Drifting: Back to basics

Yes its me again but this time im going down the drifting route. What i wanted to prove was that a little Mazda Eunos Roadster could be just as much fun as a high powered s15 or rx7.

All the little Mazda needed was a lsd, new wheels and a slightly better exhaust to make it look and sound the part. This Mazda may only have 130bhp but it can drift just as good as many other rwd cars.

The technique in the Mazda is essentially a feint or power over these are so easy to do and with a little Eunos Roadster there extremely rewarding. I urge you all to give it a try as its huge fun for a small amount of money.

Formula GTD Day 1

Day one of GTD1 got off to a flying start yesterday with 4 seperate battles at suzuka east. Being the first up, Chris and Hayden were right to be nervous, this battle could make or break there chances of success. A mistake on the first run left Hayden lacking and gave Chris a 10 point lead. Going into round 2 Hayden pulled off a much better run but with such a mistake in the first round, Chris won the battle 17-3.
Round 2 between Johan and Robin was a much closer affair. Johan turned up 1/2 and hour late after going drifting on a frozen lake and getting the car stuck. The first round saw robin take an early lead after Johan had 2 wheels on the grass. Johan came back with a killer run which coupled with a bad spin from Robin gave him the win.
The third battle was between Saigo and Kaizer was hard fought. In the first run, Seigo span out on the first
corner, but was consistent through the rest of track, saving him one point for a 1-9.
The second run was incredible, showing excellent control from both drivers scoring them 5-5. SKR-Kaizer wins with 15-5The final battle was between Nathan and Jimmy and was the only one I managed to watch live.An extremely close battle, with nice runs from each side. First round was 6-4 to Jimmy after Nathan made a few mistakes.
Second round was 7-3 to Jimmy, due to a couple of corrections and two wheels off track at 2 points. With a final score of 13-7 Jimmy is through to the next round!Thats all for day 1 of the Formula GTD, stay tuned for day two coming soon!

S13 On the 'ring (Driving Heaven)
Hi!
My name is Alex and I'm having a bit of an addiction, the source of my addiction is the Silvia S13. I drift them, I grip them, I drag them. So for this article I thought I'd show you a few shots and a story about my latest trip the the 'ring.

So here it is, a Nissan S13, tuned to around 260 BHP and with a weight of 1066kg its a fast little machine. Fitted with sports tires and sports suspension it has the grip to tackle even the green hell, this is all set off with the 2 tone paintwork , carbon bonnet and 5 spoke rims. This S13 might not be the fastest but it sure is a damn fun car.
Now that I had the car, i needed to experience it around the 'ring . I pull out of the pits and begin the 12mile journey to driving nirvana, here's a pic of the S13 beginning its assault on the ring.

The next few corners arrive and there quite technical, the S13 was still warming up as where the tires as this pic proves.

Now the S13 is begging to warm up i now began to push quite hard attack each corner with more speed and bravery that the last one.

As i got closer and closer to the finish line i had less and less time to take in this immense track and the immense car i was driving. If there was one phrase i could use to describe this lap it would be 'Ave it' , funnily enough the track thought the same.

As i finished the lap in around 8 minutes i began to slow down and let the S13 cool down after it had proved itself as a truly great car.

So there it is a under 300bhp car that can still post a fast time around the 'ring , thanks for reading this and i hope you enjoyed it.

Clean Skyline Coupe
I promised a full feature on this car and I don't dissapoint. This clean coupe is everything i like to see from a drift car, drifting is all about style and this car certainly doesn't dissapoint.
With Stage 2 engine tuning and a full exhaust system bumping up the engine to 458hp, this car certainly isn't slow. Drifting isn't all about power though, and with upgraded suspension and LSD enables this skyline to drift perfectly round this windy Tsukuba circuit.
"The thing I love most about the Coupe is it's ability to maintain drifts through open turns and connect to tight turns." - L_Hamilton (Owner)
Well that's all for my first full article on here, Thanks to L_Hamilton for sending me the pictures and my fellow DF staff!
